The Haven Standard
Every company in the Haven family is held to one published promise: The Haven Standard. It’s five clauses, written in plain English, and no Haven brand can take a job unless they agree to all five. The price in writing before work starts. A real arrival window with a named technician. Crews that are licensed, insured and background-checked, with the license number published where you can see it. Photographic evidence of what was found on every single visit. And no upsell at the door, ever. We wrote this down in 1998 because the thing homeowners actually fear isn’t bad workmanship. It’s not knowing. The Haven Standard exists so that when you hire any brand carrying the Haven name, you know the price, the person, and the evidence before you have to trust anyone.
What the Promise Means for You
- Clause 1 – The price in writing, before anyone starts. You get a flat price and a written scope of work before the first tool comes off the truck. No estimate that turns into something else. No verbal “we’ll see how it goes.” The number you approve is the number you pay, and it’s quoted and agreed before any work begins.
- Clause 2 – A real arrival window with a named technician. You’ll know who is coming into your house before they ring the bell. Their name, their face, and a window that means something. You’ll get a text when they’re on the way.
- Clause 3 – Verified crews, license number published. Every technician is licensed, insured and background-checked. The license number is on the page, not hidden in a drawer somewhere. You can check it before you ever pick up the phone.
- Clause 4 – Photographic evidence of what was found. After every visit, you receive photos and readings of what we actually saw. Not a summary. Not a “trust us.” The evidence. If we say a part is failing, you’ll see the photo of the failing part.
- Clause 5 – No upsell at the door. The scope we agree to is the scope we do. No “while we’re in here” additions. No pressure. No surprises.
One Standard, Every Brand
Haven started in 1998 by buying small home-service companies that were already doing the work properly and were about to be sold to someone who would stop doing it properly. The pattern was always the same: a good operator with twenty years of goodwill sells to a roll-up, the roll-up puts a call centre between the customer and the technician, and within two years the reviews have collapsed and the founder has left. Haven made the opposite bet. Leave the brand, the crews and the name exactly as they are. Standardise only the one thing customers actually complain about, which is not workmanship. It is not knowing. So we wrote five clauses covering exactly that, published them, and made agreeing to them the entire condition of carrying the Haven name.
What that means for you is simple. Every Haven company, whether acquired or founded from scratch, works to the same five clauses. You get the same documentation, the same evidence, the same upfront pricing, and the same no-upsell rule no matter which brand you hire. The local business is independently owned and operated. Their license, their trucks, their neighbors. What Haven contributes is the standard they agree to work to, the documentation system that proves it, and the buying power that keeps their prices honest. Four of the ten brands were acquired. Six were founded because no one in that trade was willing to sign the Standard. All ten are held to it.
A haven is somewhere nothing bad is going to happen to you. That’s not a founder’s name and it’s not a place. It’s the condition you’re buying back when you call anyone on this list: the price known, the person known, the evidence known. That’s what The Haven Standard exists to provide, on every job, across every brand, with no exceptions.
